Having problems with your pre-filled pods?
Every e-cigarette can be prone to leaking, so it's worth knowing what may cause a leaking pod and what to do to remedy it.
1. Make sure your battery is fully charged
An under-powered battery may not be able to vapourise the e-liquid sufficiently, leading to excess e-liquid leaking out of the atomizing chamber. Also make sure your battery is under 90 days old, as all batteries wear out after continued use.
2. Make sure that you're using the device correctly.
Although it may sound like an obvious point to make, not every pod kit is made to operate the same. Although you may be an experienced vaper, vaping on a pod kit incorrectly can cause problems. For example pod kits like the JUUL 2 are designed to be vaped mouth-to-lung (like a cigarette), whereas most of the Caliburn devices can be used both mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung depending on which way you insert the pod. 3. Don't draw too hard
Taking big, deep drags on a pod mod may lead to too much e-liquid going through the coil which cannot be vapourised properly. This usually proceeds to then leak out of the mouth piece. Try taking gentle drags to ensure the e-liquid is sufficiently vapourised.
4. Make sure your lips are creating a seal around the mouthpiece
If a vacuum isn't created in your mouth when vaping on a pod (like when sucking a straw), the excess air may encourage more e-liquid to be drawn into the coil, which will then leak out of the mouth piece.
5. Make sure you aren't blocking airholes
Every device has a way of in-taking air, as this is what fuels the vapourising process. In most pod systems and indeed disposables such as the Crystal Bar, these will be small holes on the side of the device itself. When you're vaping make sure your fingers aren't over these in-take holes; this can cause the suction to pull e-liquid through instead of air!
5. Check to make sure there are no blockages in the pod itself and that the pod is inserted correctly
Blockages in the centre pipe will restrict the airflow and un-vapourised e-liquid will eventually make its way out either through the mouthpiece or through the airflow holes. Also ensure that the pod has been inserted into the device correctly according to the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Clear out any excess e-liquid
If your pods are leaking, luckily there's an easy fix. Disconnect the pod from the battery and place a piece of tissue on the bottom of the pod. Gently blow through the mouthpiece a few times and any excess e-liquid will be forced out and onto the tissue. Re-insert the pod and try again.
